The #28 Shamrock Inn Team Eyes $10,000 in remaining schedule for 2006

Brunswick, MD (Swiger Press)  The point series are all completed and now it is time to really race.  The Swiger Racing Team looks to capture their share of nearly $10,000 in purses over the last five races of this year.  Veteran Steve Kent and Rookie Brian Swiger will share races in the mid Atlantic region through the first week of November.  Car owner Swiger spoke about Kent, "Yeah, I still owe Steve from this season, and he will get his chance to see how good he really is with field sizes upwards of 70 cars.  The past 4 weeks with us taking turns in the car has been great to share information on chassis setup and motor performance.  In Nascar, you have multiple car teams, we are a multiple driver team."

The plan right now is for Kent and Swiger to split the remaining events (schedule is below).  Kent's stats this year include a 5th at Potomac and 7th at Hagerstown.  Kent will be returning to the wheel on Friday, September 22nd at Hagerstown.  "That Ashley Barrett doesn't want any of me, I don't care what car he brings down."  Swiger's 2006 highlights include a top 5 at Hagerstown on June 24th and a strong 8th place finish in the last points race on September 16th.  Swiger's next race will be the Winchester 200 on September 29th, "I have never run well at Winchester and it is eating at me.  We finally have the right gear for that bull ring and I look forward to making the race and finishing in the top 10.  It seems like a lot of the fans down there have an interest in the Thunderbird and I would finally like to run good.  Again, my performances there have pretty much stunk and with the 40 or so cars there next week, running good would let me forget the previous performances."  Also highlighting this portion of the racing season will be the return of Don Sharkey.  Sharkey will again assume his title of car chief and will be 100% responsible for the performance of the car.  The schedule has Don behind the wheel on Thursday October 5th during the open practice in Cumberland.  Rumor has it, other celebrities, including a possible Nascar Modified/ ARCA driver and other talented drivers may be behind the wheel that night.

With these additional late season races, more sponsorship would never hurt!  The Swiger and Kent Racing budget has pretty much been exhausted and any help could really improve our performances and allow us to make these races.  The initial sponsorship from the Shamrock Inn has been wonderful.  Their help allowed us to race all of September and in return hopefully brought some thirsty customers into the Shamrock!  We would like to extend our partnership with Bobby and Maureen Taylor as the primary sponsor as well as fill some other available space on the car and website.  We would really like to have new right side tires and some help in offsetting the weekly racing costs.  Our racing budget for these races is located here (budget.htm) if anyone would like to help out.  In turn, we will field a highly competitive, unique Ford racecar with 2 drivers with interesting personalities and impressive driving skill.  Additionally, we will place your decals on the racecar and provide your advertisement on the highly visited www.brianswiger.com website (website stats are located on the racing budget page).  For more information, we can be reached at brianswiger@yahoo.com.

Get ready for some very exciting racing over the next month and check the website often!  I always like to have the Shamrock Inn-Car camera rolling at every new track we go to, and I am looking forward to having videos from Winchester and Susky.  Videos are available from Hagerstown, Williams Grove and Cumberland.
